Commissioners signed a conditional lease agreement recently with Cellco Partnership, doing business as Verizon Wireless.
Township Manager Keith Metts said the annual lease amount is $21,600, and the first two years’ payment will be made in one lump sum.
According to Metts, the board plans to allocate the funds to the development and maintenance of an 18-acre veterans park.
The land was donated to the township by Giant Foods last year.
The Veterans Recognition Committee, a nonprofit organization, has developed a master site plan for the proposed park, which includes a memorial, paved walking path, a stream crossing, and limited parking spaces.
Chairman Gary Coburn said the first phase is expected to cost $127,000, and should be completed this year.
The construction of a memorial is expected to cost $514,000.
The committee has planned to fundraise through a capital campaign and the sale of engraved bricks to be placed around the memorial.
